Women’s world cup Twenty20 is a biennial international championship for women cricketers. International Cricket Council, the sports governing body, organizes the T20 matches.
The first edition was held in 2009 in England. Eight teams participated in the first three tournaments held in 2009, 2010, and 2012.

The top eight teams qualified directly from the performance in 2014. The bottom two teams- Ireland and Bangladesh, had to earn qualification for the 2016 world cup. A total of eight teams Thailand, five regional qualifiers, Ireland and Bangladesh, participated in the 2015 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier. It was held in Thailand from 28th November to 5th December 2015.
Ireland defeated Bangladesh in the final match by two wickets. Thus both Bangladesh and Ireland earned their qualification automatically in the 2015 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Qualifier.

The women’s t20 cricket played in 2018 was the sixth women’s cricket sports competition. It was played from 9th to 24th November 2018 in West Indies.
The world cup qualifier tournament for ICC women’s T20 world cup played in 2018 was the third edition. It was held in the Netherlands from the 7th to the 14th of July, 2018. In this tournament, Ireland and Bangladesh won their semi-final matches.
In the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, ten teams participated from around the world. Eight teams automatically qualified, and two teams- Ireland and Bangladesh earned their qualification by winning semi-final matches in the qualifier tournament.

The women’s t20 cricket played in 2020 was the seventh women’s cricket sports competition. It was played from 21st February to 8th March 2020 in Australia.
A total of 10 teams participated in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020. The eight top-ranked teams from 2018 were automatically qualified for the 2020 tournament. The remaining two teams had to qualify by participating in the fourth edition of the ICC women’s t20 world cup qualifier, the tournament to qualify for the 2020 t20 world cup. It was held in August and September 2019 in Scotland.
Bangladesh and Thailand qualified for the 2020 world cup tournament in this competition.
Thailand qualified for the first time for ICC t20 world cup.

The women’s t20 cricket played in 2023 is the eighth women’s cricket sports competition. It will be played from 10th to 26th February 2023 in South Africa.
The 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will feature ten teams worldwide.
Seven highest-ranked positioned teams in 2020 are qualified.
As the host nation, South Africa is automatically qualified.
Two teams: Bangladesh and Ireland, qualified by playing in semi-final matches in the 5th edition of the women’s t20 world cup qualifier tournament held in September 2022.
In the semi-finals, Bangladesh defeated Thailand, and Ireland beat Zimbabwe.
