Tenses in English
Tenses refer to the time at the time of speaking.
Many languages are having three basic tenses.
There are three basic tenses in English.
In Past Tense, the verb refers to the past time at the time of speaking.
The verb refers to the present time at the time of speaking In Present Tense.
In Future Tense, the verb refers to the future time at the time of speaking.
In a sentence, the tense of a verb represents the time of an event or an action.
Types of Tenses
Each sentence gives us some information on action time. If action is done at the present time, the sentence has the formation of present time. And if sentence is telling the information about the action in past, the sentence has the formation of past tense. If a sentence is telling the information about the action in the future, the sentence formation is in the future tense. To simplify the situation of time, we form sentence in the form according to time. Thus we form the sentence in a particular tense. We know that there are three basic tenses in English.
Each tense has four types. We shall see types of tenses one by one.
Present Tense
- Simple present tense
He writes an article.
- Continuous present tense
He is writing an article.
- Perfect present tense
He has written an article.
He has been writing an article.
As types of the present tense, there are four types of past and future tense.
